About us

"Where there is no Vision, the people perish."

-Proverbs 29:18

Our History

Founded in 1933, Grandview Baptist Church sat in the intersection of Hwy 126 & the Frank Whisnant Rd. for over 80 years. Originally led by Rev. Robert L. Harris, Grandview become known for our heart and love of community. Under the leadership of Pastor John Whisnant, this only increased. Grandview loves working within and for the community that we are in - while you'll never find a more eclectic family of believers, you'll also never find anywhere that is ready to welcome people with open arms.

After many trials, and a long legal battle, Grandview lost our building in the spring of 2017. However, Grandview lives on. We moved to the lobby of the WCIS AM 760 radio station for services, and the home of their fearless Pastor John and his family. As we settled into our new way of worship, we discovered something profound...

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

-Isaiah 43:19

A New Perspective.

Grandview realized that we had experienced what God had said in His word - that the church is the people, not the building. Even though everything didn't happen as we wished, and we seemingly "lost" to the greed and arrogance of man, we realized what we'd won. A new way of looking at things and a clearer focus. Grandview realizes that God is still here with us, we are still a family, and Grandview will live on.

In the summer of 2017, Grandview decided that with a new vision, we wanted a new look. And so, New Perspective Community Church was born. A church committed to loving people, helping their community, and pursing Christ with everything they had. Their doors and hearts are always open, and we invite you to join us at any and all services.
